4-H Outdoor Clubs

4-H Gardening Club:

4-H Gardening Club meets one Monday afternoon of each month at 4:30 p.m. Grades 4th through 8th.

This 4-H club for grades 4th-8th in Hamilton County uses the 4-H Junior Master Gardener curriculum from Texas A&M to teach youth about plant and soil science, insects & diseases, and more. Art projects and experiments on plant topics, along with actually planting and growing things in the backyard and at the Extension office make this a very hands-on group! There is no cost to participate in this club.

Meetings are held at the Extension office (in the 1st floor conference room, 6183 Adamson Circle in Chattanooga) once a month during the school year on the last Monday of each month (with dates adjusted for holidays), 4:30-6 p.m. The next meeting is Monday, March 25, 4:30-6:00 p.m. Email hamiltoncounty4H@tennessee.edu or call the Extension office (423) 209-8560 if you need additional information or have any questions. New members (and their parents) are always welcome at meetings.

Archery Club:

Grades 4th-12th. The 2023-2024 4-H Archery club is full, and no additional sign-ups can be taken at this time.

Registration for the 4-H Archery Club begins in August of each year. Sign up for the 4-H email newsletter for notification of registration dates and times for the next season. Email HamiltonCounty4H@tennessee.edu to be added to the newsletter list.

Learn the basics of archery or improve your skills in the sport by participating in the 4-H Archery Club. Grades 4th through 12th in Hamilton County can join this club in the fall and practice throughout the school year. Archery Club practices are held once a month during the fall and twice a month during the spring. Club members can compete in the 4-H Archery Jamboree (state competition) in the spring.

All practices are held outdoors on Saturdays and are supervised by 4-H-certified shooting sports instructors. There is a $60 annual fee for this activity ($65 if paid online). Archery Club members can use the club equipment (including club bows) at practices and competitions throughout the season but are also welcome to use their own bows (after they are checked for safety and compliance with 4-H archery regulations by the club’s coaches). All 4-H Archery Club members participate in at least two 4-H contests – see list of contests to choose from – during the school year.
