4-H STEM

Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) is a very important subject area in our world today. Hamilton County 4-H offers several programs to engage students and introduce them to various aspects of STEM such as coding and robotics. We have two STEM-oriented clubs that help youth develop valuable skills by working on fun, exciting projects with their peers.

Children sit on the floor and work on iPads
  • Youth in the 4-H STEM club learn robotics using Sphero robots
  • Club members also build and launch model rockets and learn coding
  • The STEM Club meets one Monday per month during the school year
  • Registration for the STEM Club is in August and September
    • There is a $40 fee to participate which helps cover supplies
    • A completed 4-H medical form (600A) is required to participate
  • To stay up-to-date on the 4-H STEM Club, be sure to sign up for the 4-H monthly email newsletter!

  • Youth in the Hamilton County 4-H Robotics Club design, build, and program a robot for competitions. The club members compete in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) program as the 4-H Gear Grinders (Team #18689)
  • Volunteer coaches and mentors help youth through the process of designing, programming, and building a robot to compete in the year’s FTC game
  • The Robotics Club meets most weeks on Thursday evenings, as well as on two Saturdays each month, during the fall and early spring. Meetings are held at the Extension Office (6183 Adamson Circle)
  • There is an annual registration fee ($100) for this club, to help pay for robotics supplies
  • Club members also need to turn in a completed 4-H medical form (600A) to the Extension office to participate
