Consumer Education and Life Skills

Life Skills – Grades 6th-9th. Youth learn skills they will use throughout their lives, such as consumer economics, food safety, human development, and health. Teams meet to prepare for the regional competition in September. For more information, or to join the 2021 team, contact the Extension Office (423-855-6113).


Consumer Decision Making – Grades 10th-12th. Senior high youth work as a team to decide scenarios that teach skills in areas as diverse as purchasing wearable technology (think headphones and smart watches) and designing a menu and place setting for a special dinner. Teams meet to prepare for the regional competition in September. Top teams at the regional competition can go on to the state and even national competitions!
